Scapa is one of the established international names in bonding and adhesive tape technology, with a portfolio built for industrial, electrical, automotive and cable applications rather than general-purpose taping. The reason engineers specify Scapa by name rather than buying whatever tape is available is consistency. In cable harnessing, electrical insulation and outdoor sealing, a tape that varies batch to batch in thickness, elongation or adhesion becomes a warranty problem. Branded material with published technical data removes that variable.

Self-amalgamating tape is unlike any other product in this category. It carries no adhesive at all. Instead, the material fuses to itself when stretched and wrapped, forming a continuous, homogeneous, void-free rubber sleeve around the object. Within a short time the individual wraps are indistinguishable from one another - it becomes a single moulded body.

That property makes it the standard solution for:

• Electrical insulation on cable joints, terminations and busbar connections
• Waterproof sealing of outdoor cable splices and antenna connections
• Emergency pipe and hose repair, including under pressure
• Moisture sealing on marine and outdoor installations
• Corrosion protection on pipework and fittings
• Bundling and protecting cable runs where no adhesive residue is acceptable

Because there is no adhesive, self-amalgamating tape leaves nothing behind on the substrate and does not degrade or become gummy with age the way a rubber-adhesive tape will.

How to apply it: stretch the tape to roughly twice its original length as you wrap, overlapping each turn by about half the tape width. The stretch is what drives amalgamation - an unstretched wrap will not fuse properly.

Woven cloth-backed tapes with high tensile strength, controlled hand-tearability and strong conformability.
