Self Adhesive Vinyl Film
→ Screen Printable Vinyl Film for Signage, Decals and Panel Graphics

Self adhesive vinyl is the material behind almost every printed graphic that has to stick to something and survive: shop fascias, vehicle liveries, safety and hazard labels, machine control overlays, product decals, exhibition graphics and point of sale displays.

Print Impex supplies screen printable self adhesive vinyl films in permanent and removable adhesive systems, in gloss and matt finishes, converted to the roll widths and sheet sizes your press or plotter needs.

Screen printing on vinyl remains the preferred route for medium and long production runs, spot colour work, opaque whites, metallic and fluorescent inks, and any job where ink film thickness and outdoor durability matter more than photographic tonal range. Digital printing wins on short runs and full colour images; screen wins on colour density, longevity and cost per unit at volume.

→ Film Types We Supply
→ Calendered Vinyl

Manufactured by rolling PVC into sheet form. Economical, dimensionally adequate for flat and gently curved surfaces, and the standard choice for shop signage, interior graphics, promotional decals and short to medium life applications. Because the process leaves residual stress in the film, calendered vinyl can shrink slightly over time, which is why it is not the right choice for deep compound curves or long life vehicle wraps.

→ Cast Vinyl

Manufactured by casting a liquid PVC compound onto a carrier and curing it. The film has almost no residual stress, so it conforms to compound curves, corrugations and rivets without lifting or shrinking back. Thinner, more conformable, and considerably longer-lasting outdoors. Specified for vehicle graphics, fleet livery, boat and equipment marking, and any long-life outdoor application.

→ emovable Vinyl

Formulated with an adhesive system that releases cleanly after the intended service life without leaving residue or damaging the substrate. Used for promotional and seasonal graphics, window displays, temporary safety signage, rental vehicle marking and short-term retail campaigns.

→ Permanent Vinyl

High-bond adhesive for graphics intended to stay for the life of the product — asset labels, machine nameplates, warning and compliance decals, permanent signage.

→ Finishes and Colours
  • Gloss
Maximum colour saturation and visual impact. Standard for exterior signage and vehicle graphics.
  • Matt
Diffuses reflected light, eliminating glare. Essential for control panel overlays, instrument graphics and interior signage viewed under direct lighting, and for any surface photographed or filmed.
  • White, clear and colours
Opaque white as the base for printed graphics, optically clear for window applications and second-surface printing, and solid colours for cut-vinyl lettering and spot work.

→ Applications
  • Signage and fascia graphics
Shop fronts, wayfinding, building identification, hoardings.
  • Vehicle graphics and fleet livery
Company branding, commercial vehicle marking and transport identification.
  • Control panel overlays and machine graphics
Legends, instruction plates and instrument markings on industrial equipment.
  • Safety, hazard and compliance labels
Warning decals, electrical safety marking and statutory compliance plates.
  • Product decals and nameplates
Brand identity and model identification on appliances, machinery and consumer goods.
  • Point of sale and retail display
Window graphics, shelf strips and promotional panels.
  • Exhibition and event graphics
Stand panels, floor graphics and directional signage.
  • Asset and inventory labels
Durable identification that survives handling and cleaning.

→ Screen Printing Guidance
  • Ink selection
Use inks formulated specifically for PVC. Solvent-based vinyl inks give excellent adhesion and outdoor durability; UV-curable inks cure in-line for high throughput. Aggressive solvents intended for other substrates will attack and cockle the vinyl.
  • Mesh count
Coarser meshes lay down heavier ink films for opaque whites and high-density spot colours; finer meshes for halftone and fine detail.
  • Drying and curing
Allow full ink cure before overlaminating, weeding, cutting or stacking. Trapped solvent under a laminate causes bubbling and adhesion failure weeks later.
  • Overlaminating
A clear laminate protects the print from abrasion, chemicals and UV, and significantly extends outdoor life. Match the laminate to the base film ,cast laminate on cast vinyl, calendered on calendered.
  • Handling and storage
Store rolls horizontally on a rack or standing on end in a cool, dry, dust free area away from direct sunlight. Bring cold rolls up to room temperature before printing to avoid condensation.
  • Application
Clean the substrate thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. Apply with a squeegee from the centre outwards to expel air. Post-heat conformed areas on curves and recesses so the film sets in its new shape rather than trying to recover.

→ Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between cast and calendered vinyl? -

Cast vinyl is thinner, more conformable and lasts longer outdoors, making it right for curved surfaces and vehicle wraps. Calendered vinyl is more economical and suited to flat or gently curved surfaces with shorter service life.

How long does self adhesive vinyl last outdoors? +

Service life depends on film type, ink, lamination and exposure. Calendered films are typically specified for shorter outdoor life than cast films, and an overlaminate extends both substantially. Discuss your expected life with us before specifying.

Can I use removable vinyl on glass? +

Yes — removable grades are widely used for window graphics and release cleanly from glass within their intended service window.

Do you supply printable vinyl for digital printing as well as screen? +

Contact us with your printer type and ink system and we will advise on suitable grades.

Can you supply die cut decals? +

Yes. Send a DXF or dimensioned drawing for a converted part quotation.

What widths are available? +

We slit to your required width from master rolls.
